Free Online Piano Lessons For Kids

Free Online Piano Lessons for Kids!

It is finally here! Park Hill Piano Studio is adding it’s online piano lesson program for kids at the online site called Learn To Play Piano Kids

In this new program is free piano lessons to that will take the student age 4 through 12 through an entire years worth of lessons for free.

You might as why I did this. Here’s why:

  • Kids change their minds. How many other parents out there have soccer shoes or a trumpet stuffed in the back of their closet because their child just desperately wanted to play that sport or that instrument?
  • It helps your budget. The investment that the student, parent and teacher make into private lessons is time consuming and costs close to $1500 per year. Find out if they are really interested in private lessons by trying the free lessons first.
  • It saves time. If you have more than one child, sometimes you might feel like a glorified taxi driver. You are constantly driving one to this practice and the other to this event.  Learning to play online from your own home allows the student to log in and learn when they want.

Make sure you subscribe to the online lesson program at here

How an 11 Year Old Became a Great French Composer

Francois Couperin was born to be a musician.

Born in Paris in 1668, Francois was born into a long line of good fortune and historical ties to the greatest kings of France.

For over 200 years his family held the coveted position as the chief appointed organist to the King!

He was only 11 years old when his father died, leaving Francois the duties of being the church organist, although he didn’t assume the duties until he was 18 years old.

Secretly, Francois had an inclination to compose music, but had yet to admit publicly, so he published his earliest compositions under an Italian name.  He eventually claimed those compositions as his own.

By age 27 Francois had made a finally made a mark as a gifted composer having written compositions for church, chamber and the king’s enjoyment.

Why Some Practice is Better than No Practice!

I know you’ve seen them! You’ve seen the video of the 5 year old Mozart on social media, and you secretly want your child to go viral, too!

Not only do I run a business, but I am also a busy mom, so I understand that secret desire to have your child be a top performer.

But, let me shed a little light on that viral star’s home life. I’m going out on a limb here, but I’d venture to say that the 5 year old Mozart was sitting at that piano as soon as he could sit up. He has put in hours and hours of practice, and I’m talking to the tune of at least 3 hours per day.

So, how do you get your child to succeed at learning an instrument? Well, there isn’t any way around it other than to practice their new skill and be consistent at it. The only difference between me, the professional pianist, and the new student is that I made playing the piano a DAILY habit.

One of the most immediate questions I get from new students and parent’s is, “How much should I practice?”

I say, “practice only on the days that you eat.”

Do you see what I am getting at here? You have to practice every single day to get better.

Before you decide to jump on your child for not practicing today, let me help you get into their little minds.

You have student’s that every once in a while will practice and play so much that a parent has to beg them to stop, but that is a small minority. Most of these children need encouragement, because learning to play an instrument is a solitary task, and children still need social interaction.

You will see your child succeed if you ask them to sit down and play their song for you. Make a big deal out of it if they are the outgoing type!

Ask them questions about the new stuff they are learning.

Give them a tip jar and throw in some change when you see them practicing.

If you search the internet about how long to practice each day, you will get varied opinions.

I like to use the 10 by 3 rule. Start off with 10 minutes 3 times per day. If you have trouble with that, start off with 5 minutes, and work up. The point is to consistently build it into a daily habit.

“Consistency breeds talent”
